Barrel Organs in English Parish Churches
Barrel & finger organ by J.W. Walker. Originally from Monkton Farleigh rectory,
Wiltshire, it was sold to a church or private individual in Wainfleet (Lincs), then
to Stamford Masonic Temple. It was purchased c.1986 from the collection of
Norman Vince of Bawdeswell for use at Tittleshall while the main organ was
unuseable.
The organ stands in the south aisle and is operated from the front. Oak case
with five flats of gold painted dummy pipes (3-5-7-5-3).
Stop list: Stopped Diapason Bass 8’, Stopped Diapason Treble 8’, Clarabella 8’,
Open Diapason 8’, Principal 4’, Flute 4’, Fifteenth 2’.
Tunes recorded in 2007. BIOS Historic Organ Certificate awarded 2007 (Grade I).
One very long barrel, all chants.
